Garden Design

Initial Meeting

The Design process is started with a site visit and consultation in your garden. This meeting helps me to get to know you, your existing garden and lifestyle. We can discuss any ideas you may have already, your likes and dislikes, and what you want to achieve from your outside space.

Site Analysis

The next step is a site analysis, which may include a topographical survey of the site, which captures both the layout of the site as well as all levels and utilities. From this, concept designs in both 2d and 3d are produced. Moodboards are also produced to support the concept. This will present the layout of the garden.

Masterplan

After the concept design has been agreed, material palettes, spatial arrangements and locations, as well as a planting palette with general character of the planting will be discussed and agreed upon.

Once the masterplan is approved, other elements of the garden design can be included, such as technical drawings that include setting out plans, lighting locations, level plans and cross sections. Planting plans are also produced to show the locations of proposed plants, along with a plant list. A moodboard of all plants is included so that you get a feel for the look we are aiming to achieve, and a maintenance schedule is supplied if requested.

Tender

The tender package is then put together and sent to contractors to quote. I work with trusted contractors who have expertly brought other designs of mine to life, or you are welcome to use a contractor of your choosing.

Once the build is underway, I offer the option for regular site visits to monitor progress, respond to changes and ensure the project is built according to the plans. The level of regularity is up to you - it can be as little as a site visit at the beginning and end of build, to weekly visits. When it comes to the planting, I will personally lay out the plants and oversee the planting.

Post completion I offer establishment visits over the following years to ensure the garden is developing well and maintained to a high standard.
